Directions to Cemetery

Before going to the cemeteries to lay wreaths, we encourage volunteers to attend the brief but meaningful VFW Wreath Ceremony, starting promptly at 10:30a.m. at the “New Freedom Veterans Park” @ 16700 Veterans Drive, New Freedom, PA (just off Campbell Road). There is plenty of parking at the Veterans Park, but parking may be limited at New Freedom Ceremony if that is your destination. However, it is just a short walking distance to the New Freedom Cemetery from the Veterans Park.
After the ceremony, volunteers will disperse to go to 3 of our cemeteries:
• New Freedom Cemetery (Off Campbell Road & George Street) - There is limited parking inside that cemetery. We suggest parking on George St. if you choose to drive over to the cemetery instead of parking at the Veterans Park)
• St. John the Baptist Cemetery (315 N. Constitution Ave., New Freedom, PA) - We will be placing wreaths in the older cemeteries down by the old historic church. Note: The children of St. Johns the Baptist Catholic School will place wreaths in their new cemetery (up behind the new church) at a “private” ceremony held during their school hours.
• Bethlehem Steltz Reformed Church (5890 Steltz Road, Glen Rock, PA – going out of New Freedom west on Rt. 851)

Parking Instructions

There is plenty of parking at the New Freedom Veterans Park but limited parking at the New Freedom Cemetery. For able bodied persons, it is a short walking distance from the Veterans Park to the cemetery. There is plenty of parking at Bethlehem Steltz Church and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Ceremony and Volunteer Information

We are happy that you are willing to help with Wreaths Across America at New Freedom Cemetery.  Please do not forget to register to volunteer! That way you will get all updates about the cemetery itself.

Here are some things to remember about the event:

 • Please plan to attend the brief but meaningful VFW Ceremony which starts promptly at 10:30a.m. at the “New Freedom Veterans Park” at 16700 Veterans Drive, New Freedom, PA (just off Campbell Road). After the ceremony, the volunteers and ceremony coordinators will proceed to the cemeteries to lay wreaths. If you don’t attend the ceremony and are waiting at the cemetery, please do NOT start laying wreaths. The Location Coordinator will arrive right after the ceremony ends at the Veterans’ Park.

 • Everyone of all ages and backgrounds is welcome.

 • Please help ensure that all participants get the opportunity to place a wreath.

 • Please follow the location coordinators instructions on where to place wreaths, as well as "how" they should be placed.

 • We especially appreciate volunteers willing to help clean-up. Please check in with the location coordinator if you are interested in helping with the clean-up.

The most important thing to remember is to have a wonderful experience participating in the ceremony and thank you so much for help Wreaths achieve our mission to remember, honor and teach.
