Covering parts of Florida, Texas, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Tennessee, Louisiana and North Carolina. Scanning through an ATA Newsletter tidbit article, Dave Guiler, an ACT Accounting employee noticed an article concerning trucking companies needed to deliver handmade Christmas wreaths across the U.S. to national cemeteries in order to honor fallen soldiers. Dave brought the article to the attention of management who without hesitation agreed to volunteer in the effort to deliver these wreaths. Brad Morris, VP of Marketing/Pricing headed the project and writes; \"AAA Cooper was honored to participate in the Wreaths Across America™ program this week. We donated sixteen deliveries to various Veteran cemeteries in our service area. The freight was brought to us via truckload carrier and dropped at our Nashville dock. NAS then distributed these shipments to various terminals.\" On Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. thousands of wreaths were placed simultaneously on the graves of our fallen soldiers. Brad further writes; \"Every aspect of our industry participated: LTL carriers, truckload carriers, private fleets, and small package carriers. Everyone did this purely as a donation with no carrier accepting any revenues...\" The trucking industry of this country came together in unity to make sure this project was a success. ACT was proud to be a part of such an extraordinary project and the humbling experience of serving the men and women in our armed forces. Sonya Garrett

In 1966, a chance conversation about the need for local warehouse space convinced David Lyons and a friend to partner in building a 12,000-square-foot warehouse facility in Lakeland, Fla. At first, the small 3PL handled bottle caps and then glass bottles for the citrus industry. The two founders did whatever was necessary to grow their business – from sales calls to driving the lift truck to janitorial duties – always with an eye on delivering service excellence. With little warehouse space available in the area, they were in the right place at the right time. The association represents dry van, refrigerated, flatbed, intermodal container, and end-dump carriers operating in the 48 contiguous states, as well as Alaska, Mexico, and Canada. TCA has a long and rich history that includes several name changes throughout the years. The organization has its origins in two separate groups: the Contract Carrier Conference (founded 1938) and the Common Carrier Conference - Irregular Route (founded 1941). In 1983, these groups merged to become the Interstate Carriers Conference, which changed its name to Interstate Truckload Carriers Conference in June of 1988. In March of 1997, the Board of Directors voted to change the name to its present form: The Truckload Carriers Association.
