Since 1992, the Arlington project, had been the quiet mission of Morrill Worcester and his family. In 2006, internet stories fueled attention for his annual quest, and Worcester was contacted by the Patriot Guard Riders who generously offered their help with the project. Since then the Patriot Guard Riders have escorted the wreath trucks down the East Coast and taking several days to make the trip. This allows stops at schools, monuments, veterans’ homes and communities, and gives the group an opportunity to promote their mission: Remember-Honor and Teach. This “parade” of truckers, supporters, and well-wishers has become an annual event and teaching opportunity for WAA, and a valued part of the Arlington Project. If you wish to attend, at 10:30 am there will be a wreath laying ceremony at the columbarium conducted by SGTMAJ Bryan Battaglia (SEAC).
INFORMATION FOR VEHICLES PARTICIPATING IN THE WREATH ESCORT
- Vehicle registration/insurance up to date
- Vehicle lights in working order
- Recommend each vehicle have an EZ pass for tolls
- All hotel room reservations need to be booked and paid for by each individual.
- Wreaths Across America will not assume any responsibility for individual hotel reservations or cost.
Because of safety concerns the State Police have requested we limit the number of personal vehicles in the escort. A bus/driver has been donated for our use from Maine to ANC and from ANC back to Maine.
The seats on the bus will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. INDIVIDUAL HOTEL RESERVATIONS ARE STILL REQUIRED TO BE MADE BY INDIVIDUALS TAKING THE BUS.

2016 ANC Clean-up Details –Saturday January 23, 2016
Thank you for your interest in helping with the clean-up of wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) on Saturday January 23, 2016. There is no rain/snow date alternative.
There is no general public parking at the cemetery. We encourage the use of Metro. ANC Pedestrian gates will open at 8:00am. Clockwise from north these gates include the Ord-Weitzel gate (near the Iwo Jima Memorial and Rosslyn Metro), the main cemetery and the Welcome Center gates (nearest Arlington Cemetery Metro), the south Maintenance Complex gate (nearest Pentagon and Pentagon City Metro), and the Fort Myer Old Post Chapel gate.
Only vehicles with Permanent ANC Family Gravesite Passes and those with valid Handicap Permits will be allowed to park in the ANC Welcome Center Parking Lot. Lot will open at 8:00am and will have free parking until 3:00pm. Vehicles with Handicap Parking Permits will be accommodated in the ANC Administrative Building Parking Lot. All Vehicles with ANC Family Passes and Handicap Permits will be required to enter through the Welcome Center Parking.
This is a family oriented event and we encourage families of all ages to participate. There is no formal sign-up or registration required. Just show up at the designated time and place.
At 8:30am there will be a short Volunteer Instructional Briefing at the McClellan Arch Gate located just off Eisenhower Drive between Section 33 and 12, on McClellan Drive. Wreath clean-up will start at approximately 0845. Volunteers are asked to pick up ONLY those WAA wreaths placed in December leaving any other wreaths or decorations in place.
