Ceremony and Volunteer Information

We are happy that you are willing to help with our Wreath Across America ceremony at Forest Hills Memorial Park. Please do not forget to register to volunteer! That way you will get all updates about the cemetery itself.

Volunteers are invited to participate in individual wreath laying according to the recommendations provided on our website and Facebook.

If the ground is holding snow, please bring a PLASTIC (not metal) shovel and broom to clear the grave.

We encourage all those interested in participating in this year’s wreath placement to register to volunteer so that you can be kept up-to-date on details for the day as it gets closer. You can register to volunteer at www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/PAFHMP

Here are some things to remember about the wreath placements:

  • Everyone of all ages and backgrounds is welcome.

  • Please help ensure that all participants get the opportunity to place a wreath and take no more than two at a time from the wreath stations.

  • Please follow the location coordinators instructions on where to place wreaths, as well as "how" they should be placed:

    # 1 Do not be in a hurry. Take no more than two wreaths at a time. Look for the side marker, or indication on the grave that they are a veteran. Do not place on a grave that all ready has a decoration. If the stone has a Star of David, please say their name but do not place a wreath.

#2 Make each wreath placement an individual, respectful ceremony. Take time to brush off debris or snow, fluff the bow, and place the wreath at the bottom of the stone (bow at top). Say their name and thank them in your own way for their service (ex. say a prayer, a salute, etc).

#3 Research the person at home/Share on social media?Note the soldier’s information, name, dates, rank, wars served to research or share once you get home. Consider taking a picture and posting a meaningful status on social media to let your friends know that you laid a wreath as a part of Wreaths Across America and invite them to join us for next year.

  • We especially appreciate volunteers willing to help clean-up. Please check in with the location coordinator if you are interested in helping with the clean-up.

    SAVE THE DATES?
Wreath Clean Up: Saturday March 6th at 10am ?(check Facebook or wreathsacrossamerica.org/pafhmp to confirm with weather)

  • Next year’s WAA: Saturday December 15, 2024 at 12pm

The most important thing to remember is to have a wonderful experience participating in the ceremony and thank you so much for help Wreaths achieve our mission to remember, honor and teach.
