The connections, healing, honor, respect, and music made Columbia Falls, Maine a focal point of patriotism and pride during the Wreaths Across America Stem to Stone Remembrance Tree Tagging Event and Rally at Balsam Valley on Saturday, July 23, 2016.
Hundreds of replica dog tags were placed on the very balsam fir trees that produce balsam fir bouquets for the veterans remembrance wreaths laid at Arlington National Cemetery and over eleven hundred other participating cemeteries, to honor the sacrifice and service of our nation's heroes.
One of those tagging trees was country music recording artist Darryl Worley, who has a rich military background.
"I wanted to serve in the Air Force flying a jet fighter," explains Worley. "The recruiter took one look at my legs and said those won't fit in a cockpit son. I went on to my music career, but my family has a long history of service to this nation in both the Army and Navy. We owe everything we are as a nation to these men and women."
This video highlight from the Rally at Balsam Valley captures Worley's number one hit song Have You Forgotten, and he's joined on stage by Gold Star Families and the Six String Soldiers.
