Wreaths Across America Extends 2017 Fundraising Cut-Off Date

Yes! There's still time to sponsor a veterans' remembrance wreath for National Wreaths Across America Day, Saturday, December 16, 2017.

Wreaths Across America announces a four-day extension to this year's remembrance wreath fundraising cut-off date, originally set for November 27. The new deadline to submit funds for wreath sponsorships for your location is now Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at midnight.

"We know everyone has been working so hard and with Thanksgiving Day arriving earlier, this change will still allow us the time to process orders and ship in time for Wreaths Across America Day," said Karen Worcester, executive director, WAA. "Thank you to all the volunteers for
their ongoing commitment to Remember, Honor and Teach, it is because of you that we are able to carry out the mission of Wreaths Across America."

For centuries, fresh evergreens have been used as a symbol of honor and have served as a living tribute renewed annually. Wreaths Across America believes the tradition represents a living memorial that honors veterans, active duty military, and their families.

What started as 5,000 wreaths at Arlington grew last year to 1.2 MM wreaths at 1,228 locations nationwide. At Arlington National Cemetery specifically, 245,000 wreaths were placed by more than 44,000 – one for each marker in the cemetery. More than 400 truckloads of fresh, hand-made balsam fir wreaths. Those wreaths were transported across the country through a network of hundreds of volunteer drivers whose companies, donated trucking and diesel for the cause.
