Exceptional musicians spanning all music genre are found in service to our nation in the United States Armed Forces. Throughout our nation's history, military musicians have served critical functions from command communications to public relations.

In Wreaths Across America's "Military Musicians Showcase," we've shared with you the history behind the bugle call Taps with Yari Villanueva, and the rich tradition of the U.S. 3d Infantry Regiment Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps.

The U.S. Army Field Band Six-String Soldiers was founded in 2015 with a mission to "strengthen the ties between the Army and civilian populations at home and abroad."

Their biography describes Six-String Soldiers as a three-member acoustic group performing Americana, folk, bluegrass, and Irish music in an informal setting. The group brings its signature style to the smallest most intimate venues, the busiest public places, and music festivals across the United States.

Honoring veterans and telling stories of American soldiers across the nation, the Six-String Soldiers offer one of the most personal musical experiences found in the United States Army.

Six-String Soldiers’ social media videos have become viral sensations and earned acclaim from many of the covered songs’ original artists, such as Micky Dolenz of The Monkees, The Doobie Brothers, and John Fogerty.

Wreaths Across America has had the honor and pleasure of listening to the patriotic performance group at their live performances at the Balsam Valley Amphitheatre in Columbia Falls, Maine where veterans and active duty military always have free admission to the performance.

One highlight from this year's performance came when Six-String Soldiers invited children of all ages to the stage to sing along with them, the Rick Charrette song, I'm An American! It echoed through the valley where replica dog tags of fallen heroes hang among the balsam fir trees' tips that will be used to make veterans remembrance wreaths.

This month, you can hear their live concert performance from July 29th, 2017 as part of Wreaths Across America's "Military Musicians Showcase" Saturday's and Sunday's from 10:00 AM until Noon Eastern on Wreaths Across America Radio.
