Kick Off to the 100-Day Countdown to National Wreaths Across America Day

REMEMBER, HONOR and TEACH

COLUMBIA FALLS, Maine— September 1, 2020 — National nonprofit Wreaths Across America (WAA), is proud to announce that it will be kicking off a 100-day countdown to National Wreaths Across America Day, which WILL be held nationwide on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020. Each day, the program will highlight local Sponsorship Groups across the country giving back in their communities and working to honor as many veterans as possible.

This virtual countdown will be featured on WAA's Official Facebook page and on the weekday Morning Show with Michael W. Hale on Wreaths Across America Radio. You can tune in to this 24/7 internet radio stream by downloading the Simple Radio or TuneIn app to your smartphone, or through the Google or iPhone App Store.

The countdown will highlight hard-working, dedicated members of Sponsorship Groups across the country and the participating locations and veterans that they support. Each person has a different “WHY” as to how the mission has impacted their own lives and reasoning for supporting it in their own communities. They will share personal stories that evoke the emotion of the mission, while all providing a clear and easy way for the public to Sponsor a Wreath or sign up to volunteer to support the group and a hero buried at one of the more than 2,200 local participating cemeteries nationwide.

"The goal of this countdown, is to build unity and understanding for the organization's yearlong mission to Remember, Honor, Teach," said Karen Worcester, executive director, Wreaths Across America. "However, with many people choosing to stay safe in their homes, we feel that programs like this provide the opportunity for people to feel like they are a part of something important. We hope that people will hear other's stories and want to share their own on or be moved to get involved themselves."
