OPERATION CLEAN SWEEP - WAA-IGNC JAN 29 2022

***Please take time to read below in its entirety. The information applies to everyone and is important to make sure the event runs smoothly and safely for all. Thank you! ***
Volunteers needed - to operate in an organized and controlled process to remove all WAA wreaths from the Cemetery and move them where they will be picked up for recycling.
As beautiful as the wreaths are, we don't want clean up to be a burden to the cemetery staff. Operation Clean Sweep relies on volunteers to remove the wreaths from graves pursuant to IGNC policy to be shredded and all materials recycled. This year, we are blessed to have Zwicky Processing & Recycling provide dumpsters and recycling of wreaths. This usually takes a few hours of cleanup and lifting, and can be weather dependent.
The event will take place at the Cemetery, but there will be limited parking on Cemetery grounds, as to limit damage and keep the paths clear for dump trucks and trailers. There will be one shuttle bus operating beginning at 8:30 AM from the Community Club to transport Volunteers.
**Please - Please - do NOT come in super early and park along the Cemetery Roadway, as this can jam up truck and trailer traffic and impeded the event progress.
**Please - do NOT park at Snitz Creek.  They are super supportive, however, have limited parking to handle customers as is.   Feel free to stop by for Breakfast starting at 7 AM or after for lunch.
Thank you for following these instructions!
Everyone is asked to attend an 9:00 AM Briefing, on the plaza of the PA Veterans Memorial, to receive instructions on how the process will work - EVEN IF you've done this before. If volunteers arrive later than 9 AM, please also report the Memorial for sign in and directions.
There are limited parking spaces available at the Cemetery ONLY near Columbaria A, B, & C, just outside the PA Veteran’s Memorial, as well as Columbarium D lot, near the back of the Cemetery. Traffic will be directed from the Flagpole.
We are in need of low-profile dump trucks, dump trailers, and only those trucks with low and long beds. Please do NOT bring triaxle trucks or pick-up trucks. Absolutely No ATV’s or motorized trail vehicles.
Volunteers should prepare for the weather and dress warm, in clothes that may get soiled, and wear comfortable shoes. This is a very physical project, so please use your judgement when coming out to participate. Please do not bring pets or animals, only Service dogs are allowed on Cemetery grounds.
Please DO bring long poled leaf rakes or brooms, tarps, plastic toboggans/sleds.
There is no age limit, as this is part of Teaching our future generations about how we honor and value our Heroes who have gone before us, and the price of freedom. We just ask, that if you bring young folks, that you direct them, and they be with you at all times
