Faces of the Mission

Marcy Beardsley is both the Executive Assistant as well as the Locations and Fundraising Group Supervisor at Wreaths Across America.

Marcy originally worked for Morrill Worcester, the founder of Wreaths Across America, for 9 years before coming to the nonprofit in 2006. “I had an opportunity to try something new, so I took a sabbatical and tried my hand in the shipping industry as a dispatcher for Blue Bird Ranch Transportation and Warehouse in Jonesboro, Maine,” said Marcy. “Most people don’t know, but Blue Bird was the very first trucking company to transport wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery with Morrill and family, long before Wreaths Across America was even thought of!” After a short time there, Marcy returned to work for Morrill and Worcester Wreath Co. in late October of 2006, right at the start of that year’s wreath season.

Wreaths Across America was just getting off the ground as a 501c3 and Marcy was offered the opportunity to take on the role as the first official employee of the young organization, which she happily accepted.

When asked what about the mission she connects most with after all these years, Marcy’s response is, “preserving history!” Everything Wreaths Across America does is in some way an effort to preserve the stories of our veterans and their families…their victories, losses, hardships, etc. After all, those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it! “I believe the original version of this was ‘Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it’ by George Santayana, which has been revised along the years…but is so very true in so many ways!”
