Wreaths Across America's "Trucking Tributes" Presents Brown Dog Carriers and Logistics
“There’s a lot of military service history in my family, like my late father-in-law who was a Marine during the Vietnam War and my sister is currently a Captain in the Maine National Guard, but I have never personally served. Volunteering with Wreaths Across America is my way of serving and giving back.”
That sentiment is expressed by Graig Morin, President of Brown Dog Carriers and Logistics, a relatively new trucking company operating out of Biddeford, Maine. Brown Dog started with two trucks in 2017 and now has six trucks primarily servicing the New England region.
“I met Rob Worcester at the Mid-America Trucking show a few years ago, and we talked about the new company and Rob told me if I got trucks to give him a call, and I did,” Graig explains. “That’s how Brown Dog Carriers and Logistics got involved with the Wreaths Across America mission.”
In 2017, Brown Dog Carriers and Logistics took one load of veterans’ wreaths to the Bourne National Cemetery in Massachusetts and in 2018, they put two trucks on the mission with one returning to Bourne and one truck staged within Arlington National Cemetery.
“The driver going to Arlington was retired U.S. Marine and Vietnam veteran Jim Costa, whose my safety director and President of the Maine Professional Drivers Association. The driver who went to Bourne was a 21-year retired veteran of the US. Air Force, so he was extremely humbled and happy to be involved with this.”
Graig says they start planning early in the year for the Wreaths Across America effort in December, so it makes it easier for them to schedule drivers and trucks during what’s the busiest season for the transportation industry.
“We’re all honored to do it, and it takes the entire team to be sure our involvement is successful,” Graig explains. “Everyone plays a part.”
Thank you, Graig Morin and the entire team with Brown Dog Carriers and Logistics for your patriotism and service to the mission to remember, honor and teach.
You can hear more from Graig about their involvement on “Trucking Tributes,” which airs on Tuesdays at 11:00 Am and again at 4:00 PM EST on Wreaths Across America Radio.
