Wreaths Across America Mobile Education Exhibit Visits DAR National Headquarters
This Friday, Oct. 11, 2019, Wreaths Across America’s (WAA) Mobile Education Exhibit will visit the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) National Headquarters in Washington, D.C., for a day of education and public tours. The goal of the WAA Exhibit is to bring local communities and our military together with education, stories, and interactive connections. When touring the Exhibit, guests will have the opportunity to explore, learn and remember our fallen veterans. Tours are free and open to the public from 10:30 a.m. to 3p.m. that day.
The Daughters of the American Revolution is a WAA corporate sponsor, specifically supporting the WAA Mobile Education Exhibit as it travels across the country to various pop-up events, fairs, and schools. DAR is a volunteer women’s service organization with more than 185,000 members, who seek to honor their revolutionary ancestors and promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism in their communities. The partnership between DAR and WAA helps to ensure communities across the United States learn the indelible mark our veterans have on our country and the value of honoring their sacrifices.
“It is an honor and a privilege for DAR to support Wreaths Across America with this sponsorship,” said Denise VanBuren, DAR President General. “For years DAR members have remembered those who have worn the uniform of our nation through participating in their local Wreaths Across America observance. The Mobile Education Exhibit helps to further the work of Wreaths Across America by educating those in our local communities, and DAR is proud to help them promote their mission.”
WAA takes great pride in its mission to Remember, Honor, Teach. The Mobile Education Exhibit will help to Teach not only the next generation but all community members and visitors about the services and sacrifices of our nation’s military. All veterans, active-duty military, their families, and the local community are invited and encouraged to visit the Exhibit at the DAR Headquarters on C and 17th Streets NW.

What does it mean to sponsor a wreath? It means you are supporting a yearlong mission to Remember the fallen, Honor those who serve, and Teach the next generation the value of freedom. Your sponsorship will support the new and existing programs developed to share the mission. And, it will place a wreath to honor an American hero at one of more than 3,700 participating locations this year on National Wreaths Across America Day – a day set aside to lay gathers as Americans with the same goal.
We can’t do that without your support, though. Your sponsorship will ensure a hand-crafted wreath of all-American balsam and hand-tied with a red velvet bow here in Columbia Falls, Maine. It will then be sent to one of our participating locations, where a volunteer will place it on the marker of a hero. That volunteer will then “say their name” to ensure that the legacy of duty, service, and sacrifice is never forgotten.
So, what does it mean to sponsor a wreath? It means you have the opportunity to join a grateful nation in saying “thank you” to those who stepped up to serve.
*Please Note: Specific locations designated as "ceremonial-only" accept a limited number of sponsorships. Any additional sponsorships received beyond those used for the ceremony will be distributed to other locations.
