The LEARN Award is given annually to a young individual who has learned and understands the Wreaths Across America mission and incorporates it into their life. Not only did 13-year-old Andrew step forward to raise funds to remember the more than 100 veterans laid to rest in his local cemetery, Lakeview Cemetery in Galveston and coordinating the event, he also demonstrated the true meaning of the mission by adapting and working hard to ensure those veterans were still remembered and honored when a technology error prevented those sponsored wreaths from arriving on time.  

 “With our annual awards, Wreaths Across America honors those special individuals and organizations who commit personal time, action and intention in remembering our nation’s fallen heroes,” said Karen Worcester, executive director, Wreaths Across America. “When I hear about a young person like Andrew, who really gets the true meaning of the mission and understands the value of our freedom, it gives me hope that the stories and names of those that served and sacrificed will live on long after I am gone. Andrew is a young man with character, and someone we can all learn from.”
