Directions to Cemetery
NO IN PERSON CEREMONY THIS YEAR
The cemetery is located just before you cross the Thomas Johnson Bridge to St. Mary's County. It is the last right you can take before you are directed to either go over the bridge or under the bridge.
Parking Instructions
Parking is somewhat limited at the cemetery, so carpooling is encouraged. However street parking is available in the vicinity. For those with base access, parking is available at the Solomons Navy Rec Center which is a short walk away.
Ceremony and Volunteer Information
This year will be a bit different. We will not have a public ceremony and each cemetery will have a specific small group of volunteers assigned to enable us to maintain proper social distancing.
In addition to Solomons United Methodist Church Cemetery, we are also sponsoring wreath laying at Our Lady Star of the Sea Cemetery, St. Johns United Methodist Church Cemetery, Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery, St. Paul's United Methodist Church Cemetery, and Middleham Chapel Cemetery.
We are happy that you are willing to help with our Wreath Across America ceremony at Solomons United Methodist Church Cemetery. Please do not forget to register to volunteer! This registration will enable us to properly assign you to a cemetery for the actual wreath laying and coordinate the specifics.
This is a new process for us and we are working hard for it to go smoothly.
Here are some things to remember about the wreath laying:- Everyone of all ages and backgrounds is welcome.
- Please help ensure that all participants get the opportunity to place a wreath.
- Please follow the location coordinators instructions on where to place wreaths, as well as "how" they should be placed.
- We especially appreciate volunteers willing to help clean-up. Please check in with the location coordinator if you are interested in helping with the clean-up.
- proper social distancing will be maintained and masks are requested when interacting with persons outside of your "home" group.
The most important thing to remember is to have a wonderful experience participating in the wreath laying and thank you so much for help Wreaths achieve our mission to remember, honor and teach.
Please remember if you are unable to participate in the actual wreath laying, we still need sponsors.
