The Bigger Picture

Wreaths Across America 2022 is in the rear-view mirror – the wreaths were all laid, the names said aloud, and in most cases, the wreaths have been respectfully retired. Few know the amount of effort that our volunteers put in to make National Wreaths Across America Day happen each year.

Fewer still understand that although the placement of veterans’ wreaths is the proverbial frosting on the cake, the work of the dedicated volunteers and WAA staff is carried out year-round and grows each year. A sponsorship made to the organization defrays the cost for many aspects of the mission and places a wreath.

In conjunction with other veteran service organizations, civic groups, and like-minded non-profits, we work to bring veterans causes to the forefront, promoting awareness and presenting opportunities for help through their programs. We also have committed to continue our $5 back Group Sponsorship Program that has returned over $20M to local communities since 2007 through support of these important programs!

Sharing stories of men and women who served and sacrificed as well as their families provides insight into the courage and character of the American spirit and creates a personal connection to our heritage. Through our social media outlets, newsletters, and rapidly growing Wreath Across America Radio, we work 365 days a year to be on call, in tune and always searching for how and where we can be of service to not only those who have served but the next generation that will fill their shoes.

We encourage and participate in the remembrances of significant events in military history as well as recognize groups and individuals whose examples serve to inspire all of us to be better citizens. Our overseas initiative continues its quests to see American service men and women buried on foreign soil honored and remembered.

Our Mobile Education Exhibit (MEE) travels all over the country visiting schools and communities bringing people together with the common goal of learning, sharing, and embracing the service of local veterans.

We are so proud of our expanded Teach Program, headed by a retired teacher who is a Gold Star Mother, and in tandem with many well-respected longstanding veteran support organizations. The character and service centric curriculum is becoming increasingly in demand and can be downloaded on the WAA website for free!

As volunteers, sponsors, and staff we work hard, and the results show it as we continue to grow in awareness and participation year to year.

So as the current inflationary environment sees the rising cost of the materials, services, and labor across the country, likewise the costs needed to deliver the full WAA experience and support are many programs have increased.

We thank you for your continued support and ask you to consider the following:
