In Memoriam
by Heather Corace for LAURENCE O'DEA, Army, Honored by Arlington National Cemetery

Honoring my Uncle Corporal Laurence O'Dea who went Missing In Action on 01 Dec 1950 in the Kunu-Ri Gauntlet, North Korea. Larry served in the US Army, Co. B, 2nd Engineer Combat Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. He refused to leave his machine gun in order to lay down cover fire for his brothers as his unit was collapsing after being overrun by the Communist Chinese forces in the middle of the night. According to his co-machine gunner and close friend Allen (who was knocked out of the foxhole by his own retreating troops) heard Larry yell out: "Get back up here and fight! Let's get these guys!" It was the last time Larry was seen alive. Larry was only 18 years old. He died a true Hero. He is dearly loved and missed. May he Rest In Peace and Honored Glory. NEVER FORGOTTEN.
