Cemetery grounds will fill very quickly so please try to use one of our other options.
Busses are not permitted in the cemetery. Please pull to the front gate to let your passengers off and then park at Greenspoint to take the shuttle. Most busses are wheelchair equipped.
NOTE - After the ceremony all the busses will be there tohelp take people back. Please be patient as we get 17,000 people delivered back to Greenspoint Mall. There will be a line, but it goes quickly.
Ceremony and Volunteer Information
We are happy that you are willing to help with our Wreath Across America ceremony at Houston National Cemetery . Please do not forget to register to volunteer! That way you will get all updates about the cemetery itself.
Here are some things to remember about the ceremony:
Please check back frequently for any updates.
Note – Masks and social distancing required.
All Houston National Cemetery Volunteers on property will have PPE on all day. If they interact with public, they will wear gloves as well.
Friday, December 18, 2020 - Grave Specific Requests
From 10am-2pm any of our donors with Grave Specific Requests will be invited to come lay their wreath.
Saturday, December 19, 2020 Public Wreath Laying - we will do this as a Drive Through wreath laying. Cars will pull in the front gate starting at 8:00am and we will have very distanced (20-30ft) volunteers hand a wreath for each person in the car. You will also be handed a cemetery map and instructions for the day. Your car will proceed to any section in the cemetery and place it where you choose. After you place your wreath, we encourage you to read some of the other names in that section and view the cemetery a bit to pay your respects. When you are done you will exit the back gate to keep cross traffic at a minimum. This will continue from 8:00am until the wreaths are gone (estimating 1-2pm).
- Everyone of all ages and backgrounds is welcome.
- Please help ensure that all participants get the opportunity to place a wreath.
- Please follow the location coordinators instructions on where to place wreaths, as well as "how" they should be placed.
- We especially appreciate volunteers willing to help clean-up. Please check in with the location coordinator if you are interested in helping with the clean-up.
The most important thing to remember is to have a wonderful experience participating in the ceremony and thank you so much for help Wreaths achieve our mission to remember, honor and teach.
