Davis, Remington American Legion Post 237<br/><div class='remember-wall-long-description'>Leonard Tetsuo Kaneshiro, age 83 of Warrenton, VA passed away on October 7, 2025. He was a Kama?aina from Hawaii and full of aloha. Lenny honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965 in the Signal Corp. He was a retired computer programmer who provided his skills and expertise to many. A member of the American Legion #247 in Remington and enjoyed his time mentoring young men at the annual American Legion Boys State. A member of Grace Bible Church, Marshall, VA. He was a master tinkerer repairing many broken things and helped his church in sound ministry. He instilled a curiosity in his children to understand how things around us worked and the spirit of service to others.Len was active in American Legion Remington, Harold J. Davis Post 247 for 19 years. He served as the Post Chaplain during Robert Yowell’s tenure as Post Commander. Lenny was also active as a counselor at Boys State for four years. Davis, Remington American Legion Post 247<br/><div class='remember-wall-long-description'>Dr. Ashby attended John Barton Payne High School and Randolph Macon College, and received his medical degree from the University of Virginia in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a lifetime member of the American Legion. While in Remington, he practiced family medicine and attended the births of more than 1,600 babies. He also served on the Remington Town Council, as mayor of Remington and as a member of the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors. He served as chief of the medical staff at Fauquier Hospital in 1968. Dr. Ashby was medical advisor for athletic teams at Fauquier High School from 1963 to 1969. In 1969, he was named director of Medical Services at Appalachian State University in North Carolina and continued in that position until his retirement in 1991. While at ASU, Dr. Ashby continued his love of working with young athletes and sports teams and never missed an ASU football game. An avid photographer, he took thousands of pictures of the sports teams, wildlife and medical services. Dr. Ashby was a medical examiner in North Carolina and Virginia until his 85th birthday. He was a founding member of the Remington American Legion Post 247, and a charter member of the Remington Volunteer Rescue Squad and served in the fire department. He also was a member of the Watauga County Rescue Squad where he served a stint as chief. After his retirement, he moved to Fancy Gap and continued his love of emergency services by becoming a member of the Cana Volunteer Fire Department. Davis, Remington American Legion Post 247<br/><div class='remember-wall-long-description'>Harold Jones Davis Harold Jones Davis, age 89, of Culpeper, Va., passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Royal Haven Assisted Living, Front Royal, Va. Harold was born June 4, 1920, in Sparrows Point, Md. to Clarence Jones Davis and Irene Dempsey Davis. Harold was in the first draft of World War II, serving in the Third Army, Big Red 1 Division that saw action in North Africa and Sicily; was part of the second wave of the assault on Omaha Beach during the D Day invasion of Normandy; participated in the Battle of the Bulge; received the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart. Harold was a founder of the Harold J. Davis, American Legion Post 247 Remington VA. He served on the Culpeper Planning Commission from 1976 to 1993 and was Chairman from 1988 to 1993; a member of the Fredericksburg Masonic Lodge and the Culpeper Masonic Lodge and a longtime member of the Culpeper Kiwanis Club.</div><a class='btn btn-primary btn-sm mt-2 remember-wall-toggle-long-description' onclick='initRememberWallToggleLongDescriptionBtn(this)'>Learn more</a> Harold J. Kenner<br/><div class='remember-wall-long-description'>On Friday, February 21 at 11:30 PM, surrounded by people who loved him; Jerome Kenner left this temporal life and passed to Kennersley above.His last wish was that his family open a special bottle of premium aged whiskey purchased at Fort Meade in Maryland. Engraved with the name of one of our ancestors, the Revolutionary War Hero Midshipman Howson Kenner II.His was a life of service from serving in the Navy to being the Hospital Administrator in three town’s in rural Missouri: Herman, Doniphan and Dexter.
