Harris, 'stood the watch', having served his country for 20 years, in the United States Navy as a Chief Engineer.James a dedicated and hardworking man. Even in times of great obstacles and the odds stacked against him, he didn't quit and pulled through. James was one of many Sailor stationed on the USS White Plains during the first Gulf War. On that ship he played a major role in combating the fire that took the engine room, where he was then tasked to repair the ships emergency diesel engine while ship remained in a war zone.He has achieved many awards and medals, including the Navy Achievement Medal. A Sailor through and through, he has shown Honor, Courage and Commitment while in service and his whole life.While at sea, he made sure to still be a loving, caring and supportive husband, father and son.
