REMEMBER the Fallen. . . HONOR those who Serve. . . TEACH our children the value of Freedom.
Thanks for the interest and support for the wreath laying event at Arlington National Cemetery on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 8:30 AM. You are more than welcomed to participate. There is no requirement to register or sign-up in order to participate. All you need to do is show up. However, if you or others would like to register and sign-up to receive the WAA Newsletter, you can do that by visiting the WAA website at www.wreathsacrossamerica.org. We do not assign individuals or groups to any specific locations in which to place wreaths. You are free to participate at any section you like.
We are currently working with the ANC officials as to some specific details regarding parking and related issues but for now, the gates into ANC will open up to the public at 8:00am on the 15th. All volunteers will have to pass through the ANC security screening process before entering the cemetery. There will be a brief opening ceremony at the McClellan Arch within the cemetery grounds and general wreath placement will start at 9:00am. Due to the number of volunteers expected, we encourage volunteers to utilize the Metro system since parking at the ANC garage will be very restrictive to those with ANC Family passes and/or valid handicap permits. General public parking will be available at the North Parking Lot of the Pentagon where there will be Metro Shuttle buses to take volunteers to the Cemetery's South Gate for screening and entry to the grounds. Also, if the Rosslyn Metro Station is utilized, there will be Metro Shuttle buses there to take volunteers to the Ord Weitzel entrance gate.
ANC has advised that no personally owned vehicles will be allowed on Arlington National Cemetery grounds during Wreaths Across America, Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 8:30 AM, from 8:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m. The Welcome Center parking garage will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for ANC Family Pass holders only. ANC will establish an automated registration system on which family pass holders can pre-register for a space. Those who are pre-registered will need to be in physical possession of their family pass and confirmation email when arriving to ANC on Dec. 15. Once all spaces are filled (there are 600 available), all attendees will need to park at the Pentagon's North Parking Lot and take the free, handicapped accessible Metro shuttle bus to the Cemetery's South Gate. Persons attempting to park in the parking garage without pre-registration will be directed to park at the Pentagon. ANC anticipates publishing its registration system no later than Dec. 1; keep an eye on their website and social media platforms in the meantime.
Thank you so much for supporting Arlington National Cemetery and Wreaths Across America!
