REMEMBER the Fallen. . . HONOR those who Serve. . . TEACH our children the value of freedom.
Welcome to the Miramar National Cemetery 's Wreaths Across America Page.
Wreaths Across America and the National Cemetery Administration have worked diligently and closely to develop guidelines for the continuation of our Wreath Day activities in this year of 2020. Rest assured that wreaths will be laid at our fallen US Veterans headstones at Miramar National Cemetery.
Our Miramar National Cemetery staff have gone beyond our expectations to make sure we can continue our mission this year, working with this committee to both stay within the guidelines of the National Cemetery Administration’s mandates and maintain this honored tradition.
We are happy to say that during the week of Dec 16 - Dec 18, Wreaths Across America will be at Miramar National Cemetery to Remember and Honor our veterans through the laying of Remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country's fallen heroes combined with the act of saying the name of each and every veteran aloud. We will continue the tradition of the Saturday ceremony and wreath laying next year, Dec 18, 2021. In 2020 however, our typical ceremony must be suspended.
This year there will be limited available times and numbers of participants. Available times for the public will be Wednesday Dec 16 at 1:00 pm, Thursday Dec 17 at 9:00 am and 1:00 pm.
Attendance maximums are 100 people per time frame. Registration will begin on Sunday, Nov 1, 2020. If you cannot register for a time, that means the segment has met the capacity of 100 and is closed.
This will be a (no cost) TICKETED event, so please make sure you print your ticket and keep it for your vehicle dashboard when entering the cemetery. The ONLY way you will be given wreaths to lay is if you show your ticket.
If you have a family member resting at Miramar National Cemetery and want to place your wreath at your loved one’s headstone, please sponsor a grave specific wreath and indicate that you will be present by copy and pasting this link into your browser: https://donate.wreathsacrossamerica.org/?pageId=14747&relatedId=0&productId=116
You will be notified by email and be sent your entrance ticket for Wednesday, Dec 16 at 8:00 am. This will be the ONLY way & time that we can insure you will be able to have your private and meaningful time with your hero.
Please help our location lay wreaths at as many graves as possible by clicking the red "Sponsor" button. And come back to this webpage, www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/CAMRNC after Nov 1, 2020 to register and receive your ticket to participate.
Of course, we do not want to limit those who can attend, and this year are very pleased that this solution has been thoughtfully created.

San Diego mother calls on community to sponsor wreaths honoring veterans
After losing her son in 2015, a San Diego mother devoted herself to making sure all veterans and fallen service members were honored. Brenda Kaesler says she first learned about Wreaths Across America (WAA) when she laid her son Jeffrey to rest....

Directions to Cemetery
Navigation systems do an adequate job finding the cemetery. When you arrive, please follow the direction of the staff for parking and cemetery section selection.
There will be ongoing committal services being provided simultaneously to our wreath laying. Please remember that we are all guests of the cemetery, and be very mindful of the bereaved families that will be encountered.
Because of the limited number of participants this year and regulated time allocations, all will be welcome to park on the cemetery grounds.
Please make sure you are courteous and patient when entering, as families laying their loved ones to rest will have priority entrance.
Your entrance ticket must be on your vehicle dashboard, and the Miramar staff will direct you to the assigned parking area.
Remember that we are GUESTS of the cemetery, and sharing time and space with grieving families.
Ceremony and Volunteer Information
This year we find ourselves in unsettling times. We sincerely thank the National Cemetery Administration for their diligent work to insure "Wreath Day" is not interrupted. And since "Every Wreath is a Ceremony," all activities will be complete by Friday at 4:00 pm.
This year, we are asking anyone who does not have a loved one resting at Miramar National Cemetery to return to this site after Nov 1 and register as a volunteer. The public will be invited at 3 different times over 2 days: Wednesday, Dec 16 at 1:00 pm, Thursday morning (Dec 17) at 9:00 and afternoon at 1:00. A total of 100 people will be welcomed in each allocation, and you MUST have a (no cost) ticket to participate.
We are asking anyone who has a family member(s) resting to sponsor a grave specific wreath and mark that you will or will not be present to place the wreath by copy and pasting this link into your browser: https://tinyurl.com/yy4lkfro
Wreath laying for family only will be Wednesday, Dec 16 at 8:00 am. You will be sent the most up to date "instructions" for arrival time, parking and wreath laying. You MUST sponsor a grave specific wreath using the link above, and noting that you will be present in order to be admitted that morning and to receive your wreaths.
Please sponsor wreaths by copy and pasting this link into your browser www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/CA0452 or via your desired group.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work diligently to make sure every resting veteran at Miramar National Cemetery is Remembered on Wreath Day 2020. Please continue to check back often for updates to this information. Here are some things to remember about the day:
- Because we will be laying wreaths AS committal services are taking place, we ask for your reverence and respect for those bereaved families laying their loved ones to rest.
- Everyone of all ages and backgrounds is welcome.
- REMEMBER THAT MIRAMAR NATIONAL CEMETERY IS SACRED GROUND. Please behave in a manner that HONORS our heroes and their families.
- Please follow the location coordinators instructions on where to place wreaths, as well as "how" they should be placed. (Tilted against the headstone with red ribbon on top.)
- We especially appreciate volunteers willing to help clean-up. Please check in with the location coordinator if you are interested in helping with the clean-up.
