REMEMBER the Fallen. . . HONOR those who Serve. . . TEACH our children the value of Freedom.

Welcome to the Great Lakes National Cemetery 's Wreaths Across America Page.

Wreaths Across America will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery to Remember and Honor our veterans through the laying of Remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country's fallen heroes and the act of saying the name of each and every veteran aloud.

November 2020 Update: Due to the current pandemic situation, the Planning Team had to reengineer our Wreaths Across America Event this year so that we can provide a safe environment for everyone. There are many requirements that needed to be met to allow us to have our event. Which means that there are many new instructions that our volunteers need to follow. Please read carefully so that you understand how our Wreaths Across America Event will happen at Great Lakes National Cemetery.

*No Public Ceremony will take place! Cemetery staff will place 7 wreaths to honor our Veterans*

Wreath Laying on Our Heroes Grave Sites: Due to Covid-19, large gatherings of people are not allowed. In order for us to even have any type of Wreath Laying Event, the Planning Team had develop a multiple day strategy. Trucks with the wreaths are not allowed at the cemetery, so we had to secure a local “Wreath Distribution Site” where we could provide a “Drive-Thru” situation in order to keep everyone safe. Our planned distribution Days and Times are as follows:

WREATH DISTRIBUTION SITE – ASCENSION GENESYS HOSPITAL NORTH PARKING LOT (POLLOCK ROAD) 1,000 Wreaths will be distributed each day. For safe, social distancing a Drive Thru will be set up. Wreath Limit: 1 or 2 Wreaths per person In your vehicle.

After you and your family pick up your wreaths – It is up to you to decide when you want to go to the cemetery to place your wreaths to honor our heroes. Plan your trip to the cemetery. Please be aware that if you go to the cemetery on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday – There will be active interments in progress. Maybe you would prefer to go to the cemetery to place your wreaths after hours or on the weekend.

This year we will be placing wreaths in Sections 1 – 12B.
