Robert Terschuren, enlisted before Pearl Harbor and was “in for the duration”, serving in the US Army Medical Corps. He was just a boy, born 2/13/10 on a chicken ranch near Petaluma, who was honored to serve when his country needed him. His blue star flag hung proudly in my grandmother’s home through the war and after. I still have it, a bit tattered but still bright. I’m so glad he was able to come home, raise his family and live out his retirement fishing, gardening and sailing his sailboat on Clear Lake. We spent our summers at in our cabin on the lakefront. It’s veterans like my dad who were ready to give their lives to ensure we can live in a country that is free and welcoming .
