Alfred R Henningsen, S/Sgt 4th Infantry Division, 22nd regiment, F company. Went into Utah Beach on D-Day, fought through France, Belgium, Luxemburg and Germany. Was involved in one of the bloodies battle of WWII, the Hurtgen Forest as well as Battle of the Bulge. He never talked about his service action, and was extremely proud to have served and many times said he would do it again. He became honored in his community for his contributions to our town as well as the state of Indiana. As his son(s), he was our hero and are very proud not only of his wartime efforts, but the values he taught us on how to grow up morally sound. He taught us to always to the right thing in every circumstance. He was awarded 3 Purple Heats medals, Combat Infantry Badge and a Bronze Star. Truly a proud member of the "Greatest Generation". We love you Dad!
