<i class="material-icons" data-template="memories-icon">card_giftcard</i><br/>ALAN BRESHEARS, Navy, HM3<br/>Served from 1967 to 1969<br/>Born 10/10/1948<br/>Passed on 8/12/1969<br/><div class='remember-wall-long-description'>Alan Wayne Breshears, son of Wayne Clarence and Wilma Lee (Allen) Breshears, was born October 10, 1948, in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. He was 20 years old when he was killed in action August 13, 1969. HM3 (Hospital Corpsman) Alan Wayne Breshears joined the military in June 1967, and received his training as a corpsman. He was sent to Vietnam in March 1969, where he was attached to the 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment. On 12 August, elements of the 1st Battalion, 7th Marines engaged a group of enemy soldiers. Shortly thereafter, another company came upon an entrenched force in the vicinity of An Hoa and a battle ensued. When the battle was broken off, the enemy death toll was placed at 146. The 1st Battalion, 7th Marines lost 15 killed and 66 wounded. HM3 Breshears was one of those killed in the action. For his selfless actions he was posthumously awarded the Navy Commendation Medal with “V” and the Purple Heart Medal with Gold Star. “There is no greater love than this: that a person would lay down his life for the sake of his brothers in arms.”</div><a class='btn btn-primary btn-sm mt-2 remember-wall-toggle-long-description' onclick='initRememberWallToggleLongDescriptionBtn(this)'>Learn more</a> ALAN BRESHEARS, Navy
