Hedeployed to Danang, Vietnam, as part of Air Anti-Submarine Squadron 39 (VS-39) during theVietnam War. For his outstanding dedication to his shipmates, Ronnie was honored as VS-39’s“Man of the Month” in August 1968. He recalled tears streaming down his face, and the faces of other young sailors, as they stood at attention along the ship's deck, watching the USA fade into the distance. They didn't know if they would see its shores again. Thankfully, he returned.
