Although you weren't big in stature, you were were definitely big in presence, personality, and attitude! You were boisterous, always had had the hugs and "smooches" for us, the grandkids, and your voice was loud, although not obnoxious. I'm sure I got a lot of these same traits from you. Once again, I honor you and I so wish I had been given the chance to know you better. I'm doing my best to honor you in the best ways I can. He enlisted on the twenty-fifth of August 1917 at Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, for the period of emergency. He served in Germany and France. He was in the battles of Anould Sector, St. Die Sector, Villers-en-Haye Sector, St. Mihiel, and Meuse-Argonne. He sustained wounds on October 13, 1918. PVT Davis was Honorably Discharged from the service of the United States on the 25 June 1919 by reason of desire to re-enlist and ordered to Esch-Luxemburg, Germany for one year and was honorably discharged in Germany on June 24, 1920 by reason of completion of term of service.
