Ceremony and Volunteer Information
We are happy that you are willing to help with our Wreath Across America ceremony at Miramar National Cemetery . Please do not forget to register to volunteer! That way you will get all updates about the cemetery itself.
Our ceremony begins at 9:00 am promptly with a minute of silence. During the minute, a bell will be rung 22 times, acknowledging the 22 veterans and active duty military that succumb to the often unseen wounds of battle.
If you have been to our ceremony before, you know that traffic and parking is much more difficult after 8:00 am. We recommend that you arrive before 8:00am and that you check the parking tab on this page for the address of our offsite parking and shuttle service that is provided by the VA.
This year, we are asking anyone who has not sponsored a wreath specifically for a loved one to refrain from taking a wreath until the coordinators at each section have opened distribution to the public. We know that you will understand that this is a special time for the families of our fallen and appreciate your help in supporting them during this time of reflection and remembrance.
Wreaths will be passed out to adults and teenagers 2 at a time and to small children 1 at a time. Everyone is invited to pass through the line again for additional wreaths.
Here are some things to remember about the morning:
- Everyone of all ages and backgrounds is welcome.
- REMEMBER THAT MIRAMAR NATIONAL CEMETERY IS SACRED GROUND. Please behave in a manner that HONORS our heroes and their families.
- Please help ensure that all participants get the opportunity to place a wreath.
- Please follow the location coordinators instructions on where to place wreaths, as well as "how" they should be placed. (Tilted against the headstone with red ribbon on top.)
- We especially appreciate volunteers willing to help clean-up. Please check in with the location coordinator if you are interested in helping with the clean-up.
The most important thing to remember is to have a wonderful experience participating in the ceremony and thank you so much for helping Wreaths Across America achieve our mission to remember, honor and teach.
