In Memoriam
by Sarah Mackey for Russell Newman, Honored by Wreaths Across America

His name is Russell Mckinley Newman, born October 17, 1900 in Fannettsburg, Pa. He lied about his age to go to war. He was shot and captured in a horrible battle by the Germans and died the following day. It was WWI. It was the last time American troops were under French control during that War. I believe His body was moved from a French grave to Arlington Cemetery in the 1950s. (What’s left of my Uncle’s Story 100 years later.)

Let us not honor our Veterans just one day out of the year but every day of the year, for they have sacrificed and continue to suffer a great amount for our freedom and for that, we owe them a great amount of gratitude. Forever Greatful, W. Northern
