In 2013, Don Queeney loaded up an 18-wheeler and headed to Arlington for his first Wreaths Across America Day. Now, he is a retired sattmember and passionate volunteer for Wreaths Across America and one of the hosts of Trucking Tributes on Wreaths Across America Radio.

This week on Trucking Tributes, host Queeney fills his listeners in on his role in Wreaths Across America. He talks about his background in the trucking industry, his experiences in Arlington and what the mission of Wreaths Across America means to him.

Queeney worked in the moving and storage industry and said he helped many service members change stations. By helping military members move, Queeney developed a deeper appreciation for veterans. “You can’t help but be patriotic and love the men and women that are serving our country,” Queeney said. 

After his first day volunteering, Queeney said that he was hooked. “I was struck by the reverence and the quietness and the solemnness of it all,” Queeney said. His appreciation for the event and his respect for the mission led him to become more involved with Wreaths Across America behind-the-scenes.

Queeney was motivated to come back year after year as he was intrigued by the logistics of ensuring each location gets a shipment of wreaths. With his expertise in the trucking industry, he joined the team as the Director of Trucking and used his connections to recruit new carriers. Now retired, he continues to support the mission as a volunteer, interviewing transportation partners for Trucking Tributes and promoting the value of carrier involvement.

Outside the organization, Queeney spends time with his family and is actively involved in the moving and storage industry. “One thing is for certain, we will always participate with Wreaths Across America as long as we can,” Queeney said.
